Grannies 104, 105

The first square, still with the autumn colors, is a design by Aurora Suominen.  Here is her page on Ravelry.com.  I'm also a member of her yahoo group, Crochet  In Common.  The flower in the  middle part took me a little while to figure out, but after I did it went very quickly.

This crazy colored square is from "99 Granny Squares to Crochet", a book that I reported on yesterday, and one that I'll be working my way through for a while.

You know, I've always avoided designs with popcorn stitches in them, because I can't make heads or tails of the directions for making them.  And since the thing I like the best about this 365 squares challenge is that I learn or at least sharpen skills, I set out to make sense of it.  I'm very definitely a 'learn by watching' kind of person, so I looked up a tutorial on making popcorn stitches  on Youtube.  That's all I needed, apparently, because it all makes sense to me now.  I can hardly wait to go back to some of the squares I've passed on because of those stitches...

  2. I understand what you say about following written instructions...I get lost often. That is why I prefer graphic patterns. So clear...in one glance.
I love your project of one granny a day. You have made some beautiful ones. I will follow your progress.
    Greetings,
